Things move fast in recruitment and our first foray into the world of business awards already seems an age away as since then members of the team have been visiting clients and attending events in New York, Las Vegas, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, Paris. But back in October we all (almost – sorry Bardy!) gathered together on an island on the river Thames, just outside London for the annual Kingston Business Awards.

We were invited to enter earlier in the year and having not done anything like this before since the business started out in 2002, after some initial trepidation we realised that we have a pretty good story to tell so ahead we went to put our first round entry together.

After that we got back to business as usual and had almost forgotten all about it when we heard at the start of the summer that we had been selected as finalist in two categories; Best Small Business and Best Financial and Professional Services Business.

So we summoned up our enthusiasm and carved out a little time to look at our business from the inside as well as out to put together our pitch and submission for the final judging panel. This proved to be a healthy and well overdue exercise which allowed us to look carefully at aspects of our business that don’t always get talked about day to day but are nevertheless at the heart of what we do, how we do it, who we do it with and above all, why we do what we do.

This year’s Kingston Business Awards were organised and presided over by a triumvirate of Kingston First, The Kingston Chamber of Commerce and Kingston Borough Council, with headline sponsors Retail Construction business Wilmott Dixon. The judges examined different areas of the finalists’ business including Leadership, Business Model, Innovation and Business Differentiation, Financial Performance, Commitment to Business Excellence and Customer Service.

It seems the judges liked what they saw and heard as we were selected for the Highly Commended Award in the Best Financial and Professional Services category, within a field of impressive local and national businesses. Congratulations should go to all the finalists on the night and especially to category winners Holland Han & Wills, Chartered Financial Planners and Wealth Managers.

Above all, this was a great excuse for us all to dress up, get together and celebrate success at the lovely Ravens Ait venue in the heart of Kingston on the river, with its spectacular views over the extended parklands of Hampton Court Palace.

We are extremely proud of our team and this achievement and would like to thank all of our clients and candidates for your business and for your support.
